Carhartt Jacket Protects Toddler from a Nasty Fall
Lakeville, IN (PRWEB) January 25, 2006
A three-year-old boy, a friendly dog, and a stairway were all it took to turn a holiday visit with friends, into a near disaster.
“We’d just arrived at our friends house when their dog ran up to greet little Colby. He was startled by the dog and kept backing up until he fell down the steps,” explained Colby’s mom, Lori. “My heart was in my throat as he tumbled backwards and landed on the hard ceramic tile floor, four steps down. Amazingly, we checked him over and he didn’t have a scratch or a bruise anywhere; he was fine. It was good thing he was wearing his new Carhartt hooded jacket.”
Colby’s jacket was a present from his dad, Steve. “My guys look so cute in their Carhartt Jackets,” Lori added. “But what I really appreciate is how sturdy and well padded they are; that’s what saved Colby from being hurt.”
“We’ve heard of how Carhartt Clothing has protected people, even from bear and walrus attacks,” said Eric Deniger, president of The Working Person’s Store. “The durability of Carhartt products is truly legendary, we’re sure glad Colby was wearing his Carhartt jacket when he went down those stairs.”

What do Shoes have to do with Romance?
(PRWEB) February 15, 2006
What do shoes have to do with romance? More than you’d think, says Stephanie Pedersen, author of “SHOES: What Every Woman Should Know” (David & Charles Publishers). “It sounds strange to us modern types, but throughout time, shoes have been viewed as ways to create—or at least predict—relationships,” says Pedersen. If you want to be lucky in love, Stephanie offers up the following footwear spells:
In pre-Victorian and Victorian England, there was a popular bedtime ritual for young women curious to know the identity of their future mate. After placing her shoes in the form of a “T” (heel of one against instep of the other), she’d utter: “Hoping this night my true love to see I place my shoes in the form of a ‘T’”. She then would remain silent, go to bed, and (hopefully) dream of her husband-to-be.
If you prefer taking a more herbal route to learn what your next love will look like, take a sprig of rosemary and a sprig of thyme. Sprinkle them three times with water and place the rosemary in your left shoe, the thyme in your right shoe. Place the shoes at the foot of your bed—toe area facing away from the bed—and be prepared to dream. Pre-Victorian Brits swore by this.
Yet another way to summon your future hubby to appear in a dream—this chant from Victorian America. Repeat at bedtime “Point your shoes toward the street, tie your garters around your feet, put your stockings under your head, and you’ll dream of the one you’re going to wed.”
Up until the 20th century, women throughout Europe and the British Isles tucked a sprig of fern of southernwood (or a four-leaf clover if you were Irish) in the right big toe of their shoe before leaving the house. The wearer will marry the first single man she meets.
In what is now Germany, a woman from the 18th century and earlier would make a man love her by stealing his shoes and wearing them for eight days. And if the man caught the woman with his shoes? The spell was broken and the lady was labeled a thief—unless, of course, the guy thought she was kind of cute…
Maybe you already know who you want–you just want him to want you as much as you want him. Does that make sense? If so, try this old Voodoo spell. Take a lock of hair from your intended beloved (sorry, the Voodoo priestesses offer no advice on how to obtain this), lie it on a piece of cloth and fold the cloth–as small as possible–toward you. Put the bundle in your right shoe, positioning it under your foot’s arch. Repeat daily until your beloved begins following you.
This old fortune-telling game from Europe and the British Isles is for those who wonder if they’ll ever be a bride: Before going to bed on the night of your birthday, take off your right shoe (or boot or slipper or whatever else is on your foot). Go to your bedroom door, turn your back to it, and walk as far as you can away from the door–stop when a wall or piece of furniture is in your path. Keep your back turned to the door, and gently toss the shoe over your head toward the door. Get straight in bed without looking at where the shoe landed. In the morning when you awake, take a look at the shoe. If the toe points toward the door, you’ll be a bride before the end of the year.
STEPHANIE PEDERSEN is the author of “Shoes: What You Need to Know” (David & Charles Publishing) and “The Bra: A Thousand Years of Style, Support & Seduction” (David & Charles Publishers.) Other recent books include K.I.S.S. Guide to Beauty (DK Publishing), K.I.S.S. Guide to Planning a Wedding (DK Publishing). Pedersen lives with her family in New York City.

West Coast Publisher Is Pleased To Announce The Creation Of A New Party Supplies Web Site
Auburn, WA (PRWEB) February 22, 2006
Information and suggestions relating to party supplies will be discussed on the web site, including Baby Showers, Party Favors and Bridal Showers.
The need for information on party supplies is at an all time high with demand expected to grow over time. There is such a variety of parties that can be thrown, it’s nice to know which supplies and favors you need for that party. http://www.a1-party-supplies-4u.com has been designed by James Seiko. He has been involved with web design for several years. He and his staff have sold party supplies for several months and look forward to sharing their insights on the web site.
Birthday party favors can be anything from balloons to toys given out at the end of a child’s birthday party. Baby shower party favors might be little booties with the couple’s name stitched in or simply a ceramic shoe that looks like a child’s. Wedding shower party favors may be very stylish and elegant, so simple and playful. Graduation party favors may be anything from a rolled up announcement of graduation to a graduation cap and tassel.
Bridal shower favors can be a great way to allow people to remember the event years later. Often these small gifts given to the guests are ceramics, trinkets, or even just simply sweets. You can find ideas that will suit your theme or your tastes in craft stores or even in some mall stores. Often times, people will attach a small message with their names and the date and event title to the favor as a keepsake.
http://www.a1-party-supplies-4u.com has been put together to act as a gathering place for like minded people who both like to be invited to and throw parties.
Comments, questions and other information can be sent to the email address provided at a1-party-supplies-4u.com.
