Meliá Bali Villas & Spa Resort Introduces Deluxe, Family and Executive Suites

Meliá Bali Villas & Spa Resort has completed Phase II of dramatic room embellishment, bringing on line two Executive Suites, three Family Suites connecting and six Deluxe suites in a new room category. This completes the renovation program that began last year, with 350 completely renovated Superior Rooms and split level Junior Suites introduced last November. Designs were carried out by Lina Wiyanti, PT Suryalaya Anindita International, Jakarta.

Family Suite

Two existing rooms were joined to create the new accommodation category, creating a spacious and comfortable environment catering to families. Separate entrances open into a twin bedded room and the lounge. Platform beds are draped in snowy white duvets and throw pillows match richly woven runners, which conveniently hang on the wall at night. All bedside tables remain uncluttered, with powerful reading lamps swinging from the side for directional lighting. Touch-panels control lighting, music and temperature.

In the adjacent Grand master room, the four-poster bed is wrapped in decorative netting. A dressing room with a separate vanity has a spacious walk-in closed. The bathroom takes on an open feel, with corner walls facing onto the bedroom wrapped in decorative, three-dimensional slats backed with frosted glass. The marbled bath includes a tub with shower.

The lounge provides expanded living and entertainment space, with a dining area, wet bar space with contained mini-bar, half-bath and a convertible sofa bed aside an oversized, cushioned ottoman combined with a versatile, portable table. Ceiling to floor mirror panels enhance the expansive feel. Living space is enhanced with spacious garden-view balconies with day bed and lounge furnishings for maximum enjoyment.

Warm and richly polished, wooden floors and built-in teakwood furnishings lend to the contemporary atmosphere. Soft furnishing fabrics and textile accents are in earth tones of sand, moss and grape. Simple décor, mirrored throughout the suite, includes cast ceramic sculptures in teak frames, handmade paper relief prints and simple statuary.

The Deluxe Suite parallels the Family Suite, without the twin-bedded room.

Executive Suite

A new level of elegance comes with the two-bedroom Executive Suite. A private entrance corridor opens into a marble foyer that flows into the lower-level dining area. Here, the wood-paneled ceiling is accented by drop lighting. An elegant dining table seats six in plush moss and gold tone captain chairs. The enclosed kitchenette features a full-size refrigerator and black marble counter tops. Adjacent is a marbled guest toilet.

The inviting living room overlooks a wrap-around balcony. The spacious patio is fitted with a day bed for massage or relaxation, along with lounges and a cocktail table, perfect for in-room breakfast or sundown cocktails. Roman blinds and brass wall decor accent the comfortable area, which features a new 29-inch television entertainment system.

The lower-level master bedroom is dominated by a romantic canopy bed. A window box with a day bed is perfect for relaxation while overlooking the garden. Japanese-influenced paper lighting fixtures brighten the rich, wood paneled environment. Touch-panels control lighting, music and temperature. Dual closets contain an oversized safety box. The marbled bath has dual vanities with an expansive mirror and a Jacuzzi tub with shower. A separate shower stall and bidet with toilet complete the facilities.

A wooden staircase wraps around a decorative, stone-finished column, leading to the loft bedroom. Here, the attic atmosphere lends charm to the quarters with a study-style sitting area. Highly polished wooden floors and wall panels add a cozy touch. Bedside touch-panels control lighting, music and temperature. The private marble bathroom has a single vanity, tub with shower and separate toilet and bidet. Twin beds are fixed with directional reading lamps. Dual closets make this a perfect twin-share. The upstairs mini-bar and television make this a self-contained unit.

Getting into dating shape – Tips on Tiptoeing back onto the dating scene.

Not much can get the stomach squirming as that all-important first date. Especially if you haven’t dated in a while and are going out with someone you might like to see again. No matter what, don’t take it, or yourself, for granted. For a first date to go smoothly, you have to prepare.

Why? Simply put, first appearances make huge impressions. If you are setting up the date and have no concrete plans, or if you arrive at your destination then are at a loss for words, your date will not be impressed. And rightfully so. The act of dating implies social interaction between two people. So be prepared to carry out your end of that obligation.

Think ahead of time about conversations you’d like to have. Run through some topics that interest you, from your work, family and hobbies to current events. This isn’t to say you should be able to give a dissertation about the impact of Bedouin tribes on Iraqi politics. But people usually want the people they’re seeing to be reasonably well-rounded. And chatting easily about headline news as well as why you like golf (or crochet, or traveling, or gardening, etc.) increases the comfort level of both parties.

Just as you should be prepared to chat, also be ready to listen. “The best conversationalists are good listeners,” says Paul Falzone, CEO of The Right One and Together Dating, the world’s largest dating service. “Listening closely, and asking pertinent questions about what your date is talking about, shows you care. You and your date should be talking about things that interest you. If it’s important to your date, then you owe the courtesy of listening well. Besides, you can score some big points by being truly interested.”

Falzone also says it’s imperative to play it straight on a first date. “Acting or carrying on false pretenses will surely backfire with the person who is just getting to know you,” he says. “Be yourself, be honest, be sincere. That doesn’t mean don’t have fun. Having fun together is what dating is all about. Just don’t try to be someone or something you’re not. That will backfire every time.”

Both parties should understand what the date is to entail. An invitation to go out to dinner does not mean having a picnic in the park. And different restaurants imply different attire, so mention the restaurant by name when planning a date. An outfit just right for Jerry’s Wild Irish Saloon would likely be inappropriate for dinner at the Ritz. Being under- or over-dressed can be embarrassing. And whoever does the inviting should plan to do the paying. On subsequent dates you might want to trade off on expenses. Talk about it. Finances are part of your reality, so be up front about what you can – and can’t – afford.

And don’t feel you have to stick by the old dating standard of dinner and a movie, Falzone says. Be creative, if moderately so. Cliff climbing is a bit extreme for a first time out. But viewing a gallery opening and reception for a local artist might be just the thing. Or taking in a comedy production by a nearby repertory company (nothing too heavy until you know your date’s likes and dislikes) could precede cocktails or coffee at a café.

“One of the keys to successful dating is being courteous,” Falzone says. “Confirm your date, be on time and conclude it comfortably. If you want to see each other again, great. If not, that’s OK too – not every date leads to another. Go into it with no expectations, and be sure to end it on a polite note.”

Unlike in the movies and on TV, not every date ends with a kiss. “A kiss should be meant for someone you care about and is not automatic on first dates,” Falzone says. “A warm smile, a lingering look or a meaningful handshake with a sincere ‘thank you’ each says you had a good time. And they plant the seed of future discovery while keeping the interested party intrigued. It’s OK to move slowly. The ideal date leads to more dates and increasing interest in each other. Where that leads is up to you.”

There are things you can do to join the ranks of the working class. “The downturn in the economy will make it essential for all job-seekers to work harder to find a position,” said Robert Graber, the founder of WallStJobs.com. “Don’t think that you can take some time off and wait for the market to improve. It is essential that you hire yourself to find a job now.”

Graber offered some suggestions:

-Go back to the well – Contact firms where you had some interest. Even if you did not get the job, send a follow up note expressing your continued interest. The person they hired may not work out.

-Leverage your alma mater – Hopefully you have already been to your school’s career office. Couple that with using social networking and professional linking sites to search for alums who might be in a position to help a fellow graduate. “I heard of one person who read wedding announcements to find college alumni,” said Graber.

-Expand your horizons – Look at firms outside the state. If necessary, subscribe to out of state papers for leads. Contact local trade groups in your specialty and ask for assistance.

-Take the temp – Be flexible. Register with temporary services that have expertise in your field of interest. Even if you are light on experience, offer to work for a lower wage to gain some real world experience and get inside a company where you can demonstrate your ability.

-Cast a wide ‘net’ – Update any internet job boards you may have already registered with. Be sure your posting is current and your resume is letter-perfect. “Use specialty sites that focus on your industry preferences even if they seem small. They are more often read by firms who are seriously looking to hire.”

Graber cautioned that frustration and a “doom and gloom” mentality will tempt some people to put off looking for a job. “Don’t fool yourself into thinking that by waiting, your odds of getting something will improve. The only thing you are doing is ceding current opportunities to more motivated people. Gird yourself to what will certainly be a challenge, but in many ways it is your chance to prove to yourself and to potential employers that you are highly motivated.”

Graber concluded by saying that there is really only one valid excuse not to be devoting all your waking time to job hunting, and that is when you are on a temp assignment. “Think of every temporary work assignment as an extended job interview,” he advised.
